One question, answered without a sales pitch

What this site is for

A jailer in the city of Philippi once asked two prisoners, “What must I do to be saved?” It is still the most important question a person can ask, and it is often asked quietly, late at night, by people who are not sure whom to trust with it. This site exists to answer that question the way the Bible answers it: plainly, patiently, and with the door left open.

It is written for three kinds of readers. People exploring Christianity who want a straight answer rather than a recruitment drive. People who have just believed and are wondering what on earth happens now. And believers who lie awake wondering whether it really took. Each of them deserves honesty, and honesty is the whole editorial policy here.

What we believe

This is a Christian site in the historic, creedal sense. We hold that there is one God in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit; that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, that He died for our sins and rose bodily from the dead; that a person is saved by God’s grace alone, received through faith in Christ alone; and that the Bible is God’s word and the final authority on all of this. We are not a denomination and we do not belong to one. Where faithful Christians have long disagreed on secondary matters, such as the mode of baptism or how exactly God’s sovereignty and human choice fit together, we say so, describe the main views fairly, and note our own leaning gently.

We do not attack other churches or traditions. Differences are described with respect, and readers are trusted to weigh them.

How Scripture is used

Every Bible quotation on this site is from the Berean Standard Bible (BSB), a modern translation that its publishers have placed in the public domain. Each quotation is checked word for word against the published text before an article is released. We quote the Bible because it is the authority here, not the writers; if something on this site and the Bible disagree, the Bible is right and we have made a mistake.

About Guide

Guide is the assistant you can talk to on the home page and through the “Ask Guide” button. It is a piece of software, not a person, and it is not a pastor, a priest, a counselor, or a church. It explains what the Bible teaches about salvation, in ordinary language, and points you to Scripture. It will not tell you that you are saved or that you are not, because that is not its to say. It does not collect your name or contact details, and it does not try to sell you anything.

What this site will never do

• Ask for your email address, sign you up for anything, or track you across the web.
• Invent statistics, testimonies, or “a reader wrote to us” stories.
• Use fear or urgency to push you into a decision.
• Pretend that a formula, a prayer, or a button can stand in for real repentance and real faith.
• Recommend a particular church near you. We tell you what to look for; the finding is yours.
